Mechanical Assembly Technician

* Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
* Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
(39 hours per week)
âž• Overtime: Paid at time and a half
About the Role:
We are working with a well-established engineering company in Southend-on-Sea that is looking to expand its technical team. This role is ideal for someone with a hands-on mechanical background who enjoys working with precision components.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assemble and fit mechanical components to exacting standards, following technical drawings and work instructions.
* Support the inspection and refurbishment of wheel and brake systems.
* Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment to carry out mechanical tasks.
* Assist in the disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of parts during the repair process.
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
* Work closely with engineers and supervisors to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
* Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organised workshop environment.
What We’re Looking For:
* Basic mechanical knowledge or experience in a hands-on technical role (e.g., assembly, fitting, maintenance).
* Ability to read and follow technical instructions and diagrams.
* Detail orientated
* Good communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
* Basic IT literacy and comfort using workshop systems.
* A qualification such as NVQ Level 1 or equivalent in a mechanical or engineering discipline is desirable.
* Willingness to learn and develop through structured training.
