Job Description:
Microchip’s MPU32 group offers microprocessors which rightly balances the performance, power, cost and comes with advanced security capabilities which caters to a multitude of applications. With a broad set of peripherals and interfaces, these MPUs can support a wide range of applications. Point of sales systems, home and industrial automation systems, automotive infotainment etc. are just a few among various supported end uses.
As a SoC Design Engineer in the MPU32 group, you will work with our multi-sited global Silicon Development Team in design and development of complex SoCs. The work will include SoC design integration, microarchitecture, design verification, synthesis, test methodologies as well as supporting post silicon bring up.
Responsibilities
1. Design and integration of complex IPs and subsystems into SoC
2. Understanding SoC requirements and architecture specifications
3. Understand IP specifications and work with IP/architecture/application teams to correctly integrate the IPs into SOCs, meeting the chip level requirements.
4. Perform RTL coding
5. Run RTL checks – Lint, CDC, RDC
6. Develop verification plan for subsystems/SoC
7. Collaborate with cross functional teams in architecture and IP evaluations, performance, power analysis, pre and post silicon validation
8. Overcome design challenges, support achievement of verification goals, provide debug support
9. Hold spec reviews, code reviews, coverage analysis, etc. to meet quality goals
10. Development of timing constraints and synthesis
11. Power Estimation and Analysis
Requirements/Qualifications:
12. Good understanding of Computer architecture fundamentals and digital design
13. Basic understanding of System on Chip architectures
14. Expertise in RTL coding using Verilog/SystemVerilog
15. Working experience in IP design, verification, synthesis based on requirements.
16. Hands on experience and in depth understanding of C
17. Understanding of ARM AMBA bus protocols
18. Experience with any one of the industry standard EDA tools for simulation and synthesis: Xcelium, Modelsim, VCS, DC Compiler.
19. Proficiency in any one of commonly used scripting languages (Perl, Python, TCL)
20. Good Knowledge in SOC peripherals such as:DDR/LPDDR SDRAMCAN, I3C, GMAC, PCIe, USBDES, AES, SHAMIPI DSI/CSI, GPU, Video Codec IPsIP InterconnectsARM Trustzone, Coresight
21. Knowledge of revision control tools such as SVN, GIT etc.
22. Superior Written and Verbal Communication skills
Preferred Skills:
23. Experience in ARM CPU based SOC development
24. Experience/Understanding of verification using UVM
25. Experience in IP/SoC Verification
26. Knowledge and exposure of complete SOC RTL to GDS to silicon release flow
Required Education:
27. BSEE minimum, MSEE preferred.
