Key Responsibilities Riggers typically: Inspect, prepare, and maintain lifting equipment, including cranes, slings, pulleys, and winches Set up, align, and level machinery or structural elements and direct their safe movement Collaborate with teams to lift, transport, and position heavy loads while ensuring worker safety Follow operational and safety procedures such as LOLER compliance, wearing protective equipment, and supervising rigging activities Maintain accurate records, report faults, and perform routine maintenance on rigging gear Qualifications and Skills Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or vocational training in rigging or mechanical/engineering disciplines Certifications such as OPITO Stage 1–4 for offshore or industrial rigging or equivalent industry-approved qualifications Physical fitness, strong hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work at height or in outdoor environments Technical knowledge of lifting equipment, load dynamics, and mechanical principles Good communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities You must have NVQ level 3 for this job role
