Work with York Limited are working on behalf of a local authority client to recruit for an Adult Education Tutor for its Counselling service.
This is a temporary, part time role and the successful applicant will be required to teach a Level 2 course, for a minimum of 4 hours per week from January to July 2026. However, there may be opportunities to increase this, based on availability, skill set and experience. Teaching will be on either a Wednesday morning or a Wednesday evening. The courses delivered will follow a blended learning model. The online sessions are to be delivered on Zoom and the in person sessions are to be held at The Burnholme Centre, Mossdale Avenue in York.
The need for the role will be reviewed at the end of each academic year and hours determined by the demand for the courses on offer.

As a Counselling Tutor, you will be required to:
1. Plan, teach and assess at Level 2 on a weekly basis.
2. Support learners with any barriers to learning they’re experiencing, by adhering to York Learning’s commitment to prioritising learners social, emotional and mental health
3. Actively be part of the application and selection process at Level 2.
4. Internally moderate work, as part of the quality assurance of the programme.
5. Be part of the tutor team, that assists the Curriculum Manager in the ongoing monitoring of the quality of the programme and prepare for external verification visits with the awarding body.
As a Counselling Tutor, you will be required to have the following qualifications and experience.
6. A qualified counsellor (Level 4 or above) or currently working towards this.
7. Be a registered member of the BACP ( or other recognised professional body). Student membership is also acceptable.
8. Have proven experience working in the helping sector. This may also include experience working in placement during your professional counselling training.
9. Hold a Level 3 Certificate in Adult Education Training or be willing to work towards this on appointment of the role.
10. An understanding of the CPCAB model of counselling training would be advantageous, either as a tutor or a trainee.
