About the role
You will drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many other extras to ensure your comfort.
Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45-hour working weeks and 9-hour shifts per day typically starting at 5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules help you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, reducing daily stress.
The role provides job security within a growing global business. We operate a busy fleet, so there is always work available. You can take additional hours if desired, and enhanced rates of pay apply for bank holidays. You’ll join a friendly team—drivers often stay with us for many years and share traffic updates through WhatsApp.
Key Role Responsibilities
* We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to plan their own routes. This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. If you enjoy independence on the open road and being home after a 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.
* Ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks are delivered to and collected from customers on time. At some sites, goods may be loaded/unloaded for you; at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks may be part of your day.
* Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
* Ensure everything is right first time for internal and external customers, communicate effectively, and escalate any questions you cannot answer to your site manager promptly.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum
* Driver CPC qualification card
* Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
* Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and a commitment to safe road use
* A ‘can do’ attitude
