Post: Charge Nurse, Band 7 | Urgent Treatment Centre | Permanent | Full Time / Part Time Considered
Main duties
* Provide visible, accessible and authoritative leadership for the nursing team in the UTC, acting as a role model for excellent nursing practice.
* Hold line management responsibility for nursing staff, including recruitment, performance management, appraisal and professional development.
* Lead on the delivery of safe, high quality, patient‑centred care in line with evidence‑based practice and Trust standards.
* Coordinate and manage the day‑to‑day operational running of the UTC nursing team, including staffing, rotas and skill mix.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
* Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audits and quality projects to continuously enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulatory standards, including those of the NMC.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Part 1, 2, or relevant section of the register
* Relevant clinical course e.g. Emergency Nursing course
* Level 2 Trauma Course (ATNC/TNCC)
* Honours degree (Level 3 / FHEQ Level 6) completed or 50% achieved; commitment to completion
* Completion of RCN (ED) and NMTNG (Trauma) level 2 competencies
* Teaching course
* Recognised Leadership course
* NVQ assessor
Experience
* Significant emergency nursing experience at Junior Sister / Charge Nurse level.
Communication
* Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
Personal And People Development
* Demonstrates evidence of professional development in line with KSF, maintains updated Portfolio
* Evidence of working as preceptor/facilitator/mentor
* Reflective in practice
* Experience in leading others and responding to learning needs
Provision of care to meet health and wellbeing needs
* Articulates reasons for desire to work in this clinical area
* Able to manage a team including developing potential and performance management
