The Finance Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and developing the transactional finance function, encompassing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. The role will focus on strengthening financial controls, enhancing systems, and driving process efficiency to support the continued growth and scalability of the business. Working closely with the wider finance team, the successful candidate will oversee the delivery of accurate accounting and payroll processes, implement automation initiatives, and embed best practice across all areas of operational finance. This position is key to ensuring the finance function remains robust, efficient, and adaptable within a dynamic, PE-backed environment.
Responsibilities
* Taking ownership of all core finance operations, including accounts payable and receivable, billing, credit control, staff expenses, bank reconciliations, and supplier/customer statements, acting as the key contact for day-to-day operational finance matters.
* Ensuring all financial transactions are processed accurately and within agreed timelines.
* Managing the relationship with the AP automation software provider and overseeing system performance.
* Identifying process gaps and inefficiencies, analysing root causes, and driving improvements to create consistency across all finance functions.
* Partnering with business teams to support process changes, ensure compliance, and resolve finance-related queries.
* Collaborating across departments to capture supplier, customer, and billing updates accurately and streamline related workflows.
* Overseeing the completion of month-end and year-end closing activities with precision and timeliness.
* Monitoring daily cash flow and scheduling supplier payments in accordance with approved budgets.
* Maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard financial integrity across operations.
* Ensuring full compliance with VAT regulations and all other relevant financial legislation.
* Coaching and supporting AR, AP, and Payroll team leads, while working with IT to implement and test new systems and process improvements.
Candidate
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
* Proven background in leading a finance operations or transactional team within a fast-paced, high-growth organisation.
* Strong experience in designing and implementing process improvements and delivering business change.
* Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop a finance team.
* Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-finance colleagues.
