Dispensing Assistant - Maternity Cover 12 months
Mowbray Group Surgeries are largeprogressive medical practices based in Northallerton and Hutton Rudby.
Weare seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Dispensing Assistant to join ourdedicated team at Hutton Rudby.
Location:Hutton Rudby Surgery, however some cover at Mowbray House Surgery,Northallerton will be required.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills.
The role will involve processing and dispensing medication, Operating an efficient stock control to the needs of the dispensary, keeping up to date with new drugs on the market. Cash handling when processing patient transactions. Liaising with patients face-to-face and via the telephone for a range of queries.
NQV level 2 in dispensing (or equivalent) is desirable.
Experience of general practice and Systmone would be an advantage.

Duties and responsibilities:
Dispensary:
Processand dispense requests for medication and appliances in accordance with StandardOperating Procedures, the principles of good practice and legislation, as wellas raising any questions or concerns to the prescriber where there are any.
Endorsingof prescriptions in accordance with NHS Prescription Services requirements.
Operateefficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with theobjective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients whilst minimisingwastage.
Keepup to date with any new drugs on the market and changes in legislation.
Takeprompt action in response to any MHRA drug alert bulletins.
Reception/Administration:
Promptlyliaise with patients face-to-face and via the telephone with any queries suchas booking appointments, prescription requests, test results and general advicewhilst promoting compliance and available services, diverting and takingmessages where appropriate.
Promptlyprocess all incoming and outgoing paperwork to the relevant recipient as perpractice policy in a timely manner.
Explainpractice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients as well as thoseseeking temporary cover whilst following procedure.
General:
Generalhousekeeping whereby a clean and tidy work environment is maintained.
Maintainingan open and honest attitude where mistakes are made and ensuring thatQuality and Improvement reports are completed accurately and in a timelymanner.
Maintainingfull and accurate records for all transactions and interactions.
Cashhandling during patient transactions and daily cashing up as well as accuratelyadvising patient of all charges.
Whenhanding out assembled medication, ensure that the reverse of prescriptions arecompleted accurately by the patient or their representative.
Undertake any other reasonableadditional duties as directed by management.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 is Dispensing (or equivalent)
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Previous clinical system use
