We havean exciting opportunity for an Advanced Hand Therapist at Princess AlexandraHospital NHS Trust to join the Occupational Therapy Department. You will beresponsible for providing skilled team leadership in planning and deliveringhigh standards of hand therapy assessment, management, treatment, and advice topatients following elective hand surgery, acute trauma, or chronic conditions.You will manage and support the advanced assessment and treatment of patientswith complex or multi-pathology presentations, determining the most appropriatecare pathways in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT). You willwork as an autonomous professional, adhering to the standards of care andprofessional conduct set by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)or the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
Main duties of the job
As anAdvanced Hand Therapist, you will be responsible for undertaking servicereviews and audits to evaluate quality, efficiency, and outcomes, implementingchanges to ensure high standards of clinical practice and patient care aremaintained. You will manage and develop professional relationships locally,regionally, and nationally, contributing to the development of clinicalpathways relevant to hand therapy. You will also be responsible forsupervising, teaching, and appraising junior therapists, non-qualified therapystaff, students to graduate level, and MDT colleagues, ensuring excellence inpatient care within this specialty.

Job responsibilities
* To continue to develop highly specialist clinical skills, knowledge, andexperience through hands-on practice, in-service training sessions, andtargeted Personal Development activities identified in the Personal DevelopmentPlan.
* To maintain personal professional status and accountability by ensuringcompliance with all requirements set by relevant professional bodies forregistration and licensure, and by adhering to departmental and Trust policies.
* To plan and deliver departmental training and educational sessions forstaff, promoting professional and personal development across the team, withsupport from senior colleagues where required.
* To ensure effective communication with patients, carers, and all membersof the MDT regarding patient conditions, including accurate documentation inline with Trust policies and professional codes of practice.
* To mentor, guide, and assess the development of junior therapists,non-qualified therapy staff, and students, ensuring that the team maintainshigh standards of patient care and clinical practice.
* To actively contribute to service improvement initiatives includingplanned research, audits, and clinical governance, using findings to enhancepatient care and service delivery within the hand therapy specialty.
Qualifications
* HCPC registered OT or Physiotherapist, relevant degree/diploma.
* Band 6 hand therapy experience, including splinting.
* Supervises junior staff, students, and assistants.
* Committed to CPD and post-grad training.
* Skilled in moving & handling, BLS, SystemOne.
