Mechanical Design Engineer - Ballymena - Permanent
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading Building Services engineering team based in Ballymena. In this role, you will support the delivery of major projects across sectors including Energy, Healthcare, Higher Education, Commercial, Life Sciences and Facilities Management, with typical project values ranging from £5m to £35m.

What you'll be doing in this role
7. Produce and oversee detailed mechanical building services designs, including HVAC, ventilation, plantrooms, domestic water, public health systems, LPHW/CHW, piping, plumbing, medical gases, fire sprinkler systems, BMS and associated systems.
8. Manage MEP consultant design teams, assigning tasks, monitoring progress and providing technical mentorship.
9. Maintain accurate design quality records in line with BSRIA BG2, BG3 and BG4.
10. Review Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks models for coordination, clash detection and compliance with BEP and internal standards.
11. Prepare and review technical reports, schedules, spreadsheets, submittals, tender documentation and presentations.
12. Develop, issue and manage RFIs and ensure full traceability.
13. Provide technical guidance throughout construction, commissioning and handover.
14. Support FM and project teams with technical queries to ensure robust engineering solutions.
What you'll need for this role:
15. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
16. Experience in mechanical building services design.
17. Knowledge of building services design tools (Revit experience preferred).
18. Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical engineering principles and plant design.
19. Ability to review drawings, models and specifications for accuracy and buildability.
