Salary: c.£42K + Benefits

Could you be our new Material Planner to work out of our Depot in Ilford?

Your future role

Alstom UK is embarking on a major growth journey, one that’s set to transform the UK rail industry for years to come. As part of this expansion, we’re strengthening our Supply Chain team and looking for passionate individuals who want to be part of something game-changing. Based within our overhaul programmes, this is your opportunity to join an ambitious team at the forefront of innovation in ’re looking for a Material Planner to take charge of the end-to-end flow of materials; ensuring that everything needed for production is in the right place, at the right time, and in the right condition.

We'll look to you to:

1. Communicate delivery needs to suppliers and ensure goods are available for Alstom UK projects.
2. Monitor deliveries and supplier performance through KPIs (Key Performance Indicators); lead improvement actions where needed.
3. Provide Supply Chain input during supplier selection and support capability assessments.
4. Manage Purchase Requisitions and Material Planning documents for internal and external suppliers.
5. Maintain accurate planning master data in line with stock and logistics constraints.
6. Create and communicate Call-offs, Schedule Agreements, and Source Lists to suppliers; follow up on confirmations.
7. Analyse supplier responses against project needs; identify risks and implement recovery plans.
Maintain regular communication with suppliers to track delivery status and resolve issues.
8. Manage MRP (Material Requirements Planning) exception messages and maintain delivery data in the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
9. Track missing parts, manage replacements for non-conformities, and resolve receiving issues (shortages, overstock, damage, documentation).
10. Share delivery performance insights with stakeholders and support action plans for underperforming suppliers.
11. Contribute to risk assessments, stock availability, and mitigation plans for new business.
12. Apply APSYS (Alstom Performance System) standards and support EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) initiatives.

Essential:

13. Proven experience in a material planning, supply chain, or production planning role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
14. Ability to make decisions and act with a sense of urgency.
15. Team spirit and strong communication skills.
16. Sound understanding of costing, planning, and risk management practices.
17. Resilience.

Desirable:

18. Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related field preferred.
