We are seeking an experienced investigator to join our National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, with a strong investigative background, excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of managing major investigations. Experience working with Partnership Organisations and leading investigative teams is desirable.
You will collaborate with Senior Investigation Managers and our Major Incident Room to lead investigations into serious environmental crimes, such as Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports, and large-scale fraud. Your role involves coordinating all investigation aspects, from identifying lines of enquiry to casefile preparation and prosecution.
This position is within the National Environmental Crime Unit, part of the National Regulation and Monitoring Team, which aims to bring serious environmental offenders to justice. Your expertise will help develop and lead investigations and support team development.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* High attention to detail and self-motivation
* Strong investigative background and knowledge of legislation such as PACE and CPIA
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Basic IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams)
* Full driving licence
Desirable but not essential include knowledge of environmental crimes, leading criminal investigations, and experience with Major Incident Rooms.
This is a hybrid role involving working from home and at an Environment Agency Office, with travel requirements. Responding to incidents is part of the role, with appropriate training and support provided.
