Caretaker and Security Operative
Hours: Full time (37hrs per week, all year round) on a shift pattern basis of Morning or Afternoons
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £24,476 per annum + benefits
Location: North Notts College, Worksop
About the Role
The Caretaker and Security Operative fulfills a key role at the College by ensuring that all buildings are available, accessible, and suitable for the use of students, staff, and visitors.
This role is critical to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment. Your professional and friendly interaction with people will shape staff and visitors' perceptions of the College Campus.
Main duties will include:
* Participating in shift rota to ensure an Estates presence on all campus sites whenever the buildings are open, including opening procedures and maintaining security.
* Assisting in maintaining cleanliness by removing refuse and emptying bins.
* Promoting health and safety by keeping corridors and fire exits clear of hazards.
* Preparing rooms for use, setting up for curriculum or meetings, and assisting with furniture arrangements.
* Ensuring the prompt delivery of goods, documents, and parcels within and outside the college.
* Performing routine maintenance and repairs, advising on improvements, and supporting risk assessments and maintenance programs.
* Responding to emergencies, including evacuations and directing emergency services, and responding to lift breakdowns.
* Assisting in First Aid as required.
You will…
Have prior experience in maintenance, security, caretaking, or a similar role (preferably within education, but not essential).
Hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to work towards it.
Department Info
You will report to the Estates and Facilities Management Team and work collaboratively across all College campuses.
