Overview
An expanding and highly successful high volume manufacturing company is currently recruiting a Shift Production Manager to join their factory operation in Greater Manchester. The role forms part of the Production Management team and reports to the Site Operations Manager. With overall responsibility of several production areas and a shift team of 2 direct reports and ~18 reports, the position focuses on coaching, continuous improvement and applying change. This is a shift-based opportunity on double days, weekly rotating Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm.
Responsibilities
* Organise the resource in your department appropriately against the demands of the business.
* Manage and develop employees through technical coaching, behavioural guidance, leadership and empowerment.
* Work closely with the Production Planning team to ensure that Customer Orders are produced.
* Lead by example to ensure that site standards for EHS, Quality & GMP are maintained at all times.
* Report equipment failures / issues to ensure they are fit for purpose and don’t present a risk.
* Contribute and lead CI activities & use problem solving processes to resolve issues in all factory areas.
* Provide support to other Shift teams during planned Manager holidays and absence.
Qualifications
* Previous experience managing a production operation on shift is essential, ideally in a high volume manufacturing or continuous process environment.
* Experience driving a culture of Continuous Improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, WCM, 5S) in a manufacturing setting is key.
* Formal H&S qualification (IOSH) is preferred.
