Why This Role Matters This is a high‑impact opportunity for an Economic Analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping the evidence base behind nationally significant services. You’ll deliver impartial economic impact analysis that demonstrates the real‑world value of MaPS’ work — both directly through your own analysis and by assuring the quality of externally commissioned evaluations. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, you’ll be trusted to apply approved government models and methods to assess social and economic outcomes, influence decision‑making, and strengthen organisational credibility. What You’ll Be Doing The Economic Analyst will report directly to Senior Statistician and will be responsible for: Oversee research and evaluation projects to assess the impact of services on users and the wider UK population. Manage internal stakeholders to understand requirements and develop relationships with external stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify evidence gaps and new impact assessment opportunities. Analyse quantitative and qualitative data, including complex datasets, to ensure the economic impact findings are robust. Collaborate with partner agencies to design and deliver high-quality primary data collection to support the research needs of projects. Analyse and synthesise complex information and data, applying economic analysis knowledge while being aware of the limitations and risks. Develop a thorough understanding of the impact of services on customers/users, including both monetary and non-monetary benefits. Write reports and present findings to a range of stakeholders, including non-technical audiences. What You’ll Bring To be successful in this role, you’ll need: A degree in economics or a related field with at least 2 years’ experience in an economic analysis role, such as policy analysis and economic impact assessment. Knowledge of the principles of the HMT Green and Magenta Books, with practical experience in assessing the impact of policies or services. Proficiency in analysing secondary data sources such as surveys, economic data, and literature reviews. Experience in conducting rigorous statistical and economic analysis using software like Excel, SPSS, SAS, Power BI, R. Skilled in designing and delivering robust economic analyses, such as cost-benefit analysis, social return on investment (SROI), and economic modelling and forecasting. Expertise in using analytical and influencing skills to present complex information to various audiences in a compelling and engaging way. Ability to review, synthesise, and quality assure own analysis and that of others to ensure high quality. Experience in effectively engaging, negotiating, and working with subject matter experts and other key stakeholders.
