About the role Our Residential Support Workers provide compassionate care using a calm and patient approach whilst handling challenging situations with empathy and professionalism. You’ll create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop, whilst ensuring their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential. In return we offer an in-depth induction and amazing opportunities for career progression. Once you have gained the relevant experience and qualifications you will be ready to progress to the next step in your career with us. This role will operate with a team of three on shift working 8am – 11pm with one sleeping in, on a day on and then day off basis and includes weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. About the service Ty Hydref is a four bedded children’s home based in Templeton, Pembrokeshire, that provides long-term residential care for up to four children & young people who are looked after. The underpinning philosophy of our children’s homes is to support them through a range of needs such as early childhood trauma, attachment disorders, dysregulated behaviours and those who have been subject to various placement breakdowns. Our Residential Support Workers use various therapeutic approaches such as DDP (Dyadic Development Practice) as well as PACE (Playfulness, Curiosity, Acceptance and Empathy) and by adopting these models, we enable them to come to terms with their past and build on the skills needed to achieve the best possible outcomes. How you'll help to create brighter futures Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with the homes therapeutic approaches and Action for Children policies and procedures. To work closely alongside a clinical psychology team, following therapeutic action plans and interventions to support and provide the best care to our children/young people. To engage or lead in reflection and de-briefs following incidents in line with care plans and the homes model of care. Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk. Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports. Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc. Supporting with taking part in fun activities, learn new skills and work towards independence Supporting with personal care, communication, administration of medication and clinical procedures Let's talk about you Experience of leading Shifts within a Residential Setting Knowledge and understanding of early childhood trauma, attachment disorders or dysregulated behaviours Knowledge of DDP and PACE therapeutic model approaches (desirable) Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us (fully funded by us) Good to know Please note we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role As a non-profit organization, we are committed to the recent update from the Welsh Government in relation to ‘eliminating private profit from the care of children looked after ’. “80% of care homes in Wales are run by the private sector.
