As our Design Director, you will be a visionary leader and global ambassador—guiding the creative direction of our New, Bespoke, and Classic collections while inspiring a talented team and captivating international audiences with your design voice.
The Role
* Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire HQ (Hybrid – 3 days in office) with travel minimum 6 times per year to represent the brand globally.
* Salary: Competitive salary (based on expertise) with bonus, private healthcare with Vitality, pension, 25 days holiday rising to 28, employer pension contribution, birthday leave, and employee assistance program.
* Product focus: Multi-award-winning, luxuriously hand-crafted sculptures.
* Clients: High Net Worth Individuals; Landscape and Garden Designers, Property Developers, Architects and Art.
* Work destinations: Public Spaces, Luxury Developments, Hotels and Private Gardens.
* Highlights and pedigree: London Design Awards 2022; Queen’s Award for International Trade; Design and Decoration Award; Chelsea Flower Show Tradestand Trophy (7 wins); sundials unveiled by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and by King Charles.
Responsibilities
* Lead the full design process for New, Bespoke, and Classic products—from research and ideation to concept and innovation—and translate David Harber’s creative direction into elegant, commercially successful products that honour the founder’s legacy.
* Inspire and develop the creative team; foster curiosity, push boundaries, and unlock new potential. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Marketing to energise stakeholders and deliver exceptional results.
* Act as a global ambassador for the brand; represent David Harber at high-profile UK and international design events, lead CPDs, and build influential networks across the luxury design world. Travel frequently as required.
* Lead client engagements, transform briefs into inspiring bespoke proposals, and manage multiple projects from sketch to proposal with precision and flair.
* Provide strategic leadership with a strong design vision; align teams, stakeholders, and clients around bold ideas and shared success.

About You
* Degree in visual or product design (or equivalent experience) with extensive senior-level expertise, ideally in the luxury sector.
* Strong grounding in historical, classical, and contemporary design; ability to balance creativity with commercial awareness.
* Confidence in face-to-face client interactions; translate complex briefs into elegant solutions while inspiring trust and collaboration.
* Exceptional communication and networking skills; proven experience in leading, motivating, and developing a creative team.
* Positive, open approach with the ability to inspire clients, colleagues, and stakeholders alike.
