As a Software Engineer at Learning Pool, you will be a key part of our mission: to create learning experiences that deliver extraordinary outcomes for companies and their people. This role is a crucial part of our mission to scale, innovate, and grow as a purpose-led learning technology business.

What you will be doing

Roles and responsibilities include:

* Partnering with Product Managers and stakeholders to define, prioritize, and deliver technical solutions.
* Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets agreed standards.
* Participate in code reviews to ensure reliability and consistency.
* Collaborating across functions—UX, QA, Product, Engineering—to design and deliver user-centered features.
* Providing transparent updates on progress, risks, and key milestones.
* Maintaining up-to-date technical documentation.
* Keeping informed of emerging trends in software engineering and identifying relevant opportunities.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

* Experience: You will have at least 2 years of experience building high-quality, production-ready software.
* Backend development: You will be proficient in backend development, with experience using Ruby on Rails.
* Web technologies: You will have experience working with web frameworks and technologies such as React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience with TypeScript will be considered a plus.
* Database knowledge: You will have knowledge of databases, particularly PostgreSQL or similar systems.
* Development tools: You will have hands-on experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
* Systems and API design: You will have a solid understanding of distributed systems and REST API design principles.
* Agile delivery: You will have experience working in an Agile environment and delivering scalable software solutions.
* Communication skills: You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Although not essential, it would be advantageous if you had experience in the following:

* Experience using AWS technologies (Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, SQS).
* Understanding of cross platform development (Mobile Vs Desktop, browser limitations etc)
* A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
