Overview
Were seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join the Monitoring Field Team at the Environment Agency in either Darlington or York. This demanding fast‑paced role combines office‑based and fieldwork sampling responsibilities, requiring daily technical and operational support to field staff.
Responsibilities
* Support the Line Manager and provide daily technical and operational guidance to field staff.
* Plan and schedule monitoring activities in collaboration with National and Area teams for maximum efficiency.
* Enter, manage and interpret routine data across key systems.
* Lead training and mentoring within the team.
* Supervise and support field teams during monitoring activities.
* Contribute to the delivery of all national monitoring elements.
* Work in and around water, driving and lifting samples and equipment, and operate in all weathers.
Qualifications & Skills
* Full UK driving licence.
* Experience in training and mentoring others.
* Comfortable working in water and with specialised sampling equipment.
* Ability to use standard IT packages and specialised software systems.
* Data entry and data interpretation skills.
* Field and H&S experience.
Additional Information
The core hours are 37 per week Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work to support statutory monitoring. Flexible working patterns, including job share, are welcome. Interviews will be held on MS Teams, aiming for mid‑January (subject to change).
