We are looking for an experienced, resilient and compassionate Welfare Team Lead to join our leadership team and play a vital role in shaping the wellbeing and behavioural support systems across the school. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated welfare team, model best practice and help create a calm, therapeutic learning environment where every pupil can succeed.

About the Role

As Welfare Team Lead, you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the highest standards of pupil welfare, behaviour support and staff guidance across the school. You will lead the development of the welfare team, support staff with effective behaviour strategies and ensure that therapeutic, restorative and trauma-informed approaches are embedded throughout the school.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will support both pupils and staff during challenging situations while helping drive a positive, supportive school culture.

You will:

1. Leading and developing the Welfare Team as a core support system within the school
2. Supporting pupils throughout the school day to help them engage with learning and regulate behaviour
3. Modelling and embedding effective behaviour support and intervention strategies
4. Leading on the implementation and quality assurance of CPI Safety Interventions and RPI procedures
5. Promoting the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) principles to minimise restrictive interventions
6. Supporting staff through incident debriefs, coaching and restorative practices
7. Monitoring behaviour data and identifying strategies to reduce incidents and improve outcomes
8. Supporting morning routines and whole-school systems that promote calm and positive engagement

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

9. Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH, ASC or complex needs
10. Experienced in behaviour support, crisis management and restorative approaches
11. A confident leader who can guide, coach and support staff effectively
12. Calm, resilient and able to respond positively in challenging situations
13. Highly organised with strong communication and collaboration skills
14. Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and promoting positive wellbeing across the school

Experience with CPI Safety Interventions, RRN principles or behaviour support frameworks is highly desirable.

You will be a confident, empathetic leader capable of inspiring staff, engaging pupils, and fostering strong community relationships. A full UK driving licence is required.
