Finance Officer | 10290 | Maternity Cover Contract until 27 November 2026 | 37 hours per week | £39,862 to £41,771 per annum (Scale J) | County Hall, Norwich / Hybrid
We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team at Norfolk County Council, and play a key role in helping deliver a first‑class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation.
Norfolk County Council is the main local authority for Norfolk, providing services countywide to residents. We lead in critical policy areas and work in partnership with local businesses, voluntary organisations and other local authorities to deliver excellent services.
Our Budgeting and Accounting Team is a critical part of the organisation, supporting the breadth of services to ensure accountability and value for money in a large and complex environment undergoing transformational change. As a member of this team, you will support day‑to‑day budgeting and accounting requirements and work on a range of transformational change projects, initially supporting Adult Social Care.
To be considered for the role you will need a proven background as a Finance Officer or similar, be AAT qualified or part‑qualified at CCAB level, competent in both management and financial accounting functions, comfortable analysing financial and non‑financial data, experienced in supporting budget holders and decision‑making, and keen to contribute to the continual improvement of the finance function.
Key responsibilities
* Managing day‑to‑day budgeting and accounting requirements.
* Supporting Adult Social Care on budgeting and accounting matters.
* Participating in transformational change projects to improve finance processes.
* Providing analytical support to budget holders and decision makers.
Key qualifications
* Previous experience as a Finance Officer or related finance role.
* AAT qualification or part‑qualification at CCAB level.
* Strong analytical skills and experience with financial and non‑financial data.
* Experience in supporting budget holders and facilitating decision making.
