A vacancy has arisen for a Non Ferrous Manager based at our Exeter site.
Role Purpose
The purpose of the role is to work with the Site Manager to ensure facilities operate at maximum efficiency, maintain product quality to specifications, control costs in line with budgets, and uphold customer, safety, and housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure non-ferrous facilities operate efficiently in terms of tonnage processed.
2. Collaborate with the Site Manager and NF Manager North/South on operational requirements.
3. Achieve targeted stock levels at the site.
4. Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
5. Ensure product quality meets customer standards and specifications.
6. Manage material claims, review data, reduce targets, and implement corrective actions.
7. Control costs according to company budgets or forecasts.
8. Support health, safety, and environmental legislative compliance and company SHECS guidelines.
9. Raise and act upon non-conformances within scope of responsibilities.
10. Demonstrate commitment to SHECS policies and ensure team compliance.
11. Review relevant statistics and implement corrective actions as needed.
12. Identify and develop opportunities for business growth aligned with budgets and forecasts.
13. Develop and manage action plans for process improvements.
14. Monitor outcomes of improvement initiatives against targets.
15. Troubleshoot production issues and minimize downtime.
16. Make operational decisions to ensure safety, staffing, and policy compliance.
17. Optimize deployment of employees to maximize processing capabilities.
18. Ensure all direct reports understand and adhere to policies and procedures.
19. Encourage suggestions for policy and process improvements.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should have knowledge of non-ferrous materials and recovery processes, with previous management experience in a fast-paced environment. Experience in planning, production scheduling, and continuous improvement methodologies (such as 5S) is desirable. IT proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis skills are required. Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety legislation is advantageous.
The role requires self-motivation, flexibility, strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills to foster a positive safety-focused culture. Prior team management experience is essential.
