We are seeking a CFD Engineer to join our team, focusing on simulating complex fluid mechanics problems in the Oil & Gas Sector and other areas. The role involves providing technical input for consultancy & R&D projects, with responsibilities mainly in producing reports. You will collaborate across the organization, including general flow measurement consultancy, as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, delivering projects across various industry sectors, especially clean fuels and oil & gas.
The position can be primarily home-based, office-based, or a hybrid, with periodic attendance at our East Kilbride facilities. Candidates must be able to work in the UK and travel as required. This role suits someone aiming for a technical career path and interested in working on complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical aspects of R&D & consultancy projects.
* Perform CFD simulations using industry-standard software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM).
* Develop and validate CFD models based on client needs and engineering principles.
* Generate and refine computational meshes.
* Analyze simulation results, identify key findings, and prepare clear reports.
* Present findings and recommendations to clients and teams.
* Participate in project planning and scope definition.
* Contribute to CFD best practices and tool development.
* Collaborate effectively with other engineers and teams.
* May be required to attend physical testing at our facilities.
Qualifications / Qualifikationen
Essential:
* A Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on CFD.
* Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
* Knowledge of numerical methods.
* Experience with ANSYS Fluent, Fluent Meshing, SpaceClaim, and UDFs.
* Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools.
* Programming experience.
* Proven track record of leading technical projects.
* Ability to work on both theoretical and practical aspects of technical work.
* Comfort working in a distributed, multidisciplinary team environment.
* Highly motivated, self-starting attitude.
* Willingness to travel globally.
Desirable:
* PhD in a STEM discipline.
* Experience with FEA using ANSYS Mechanical.
* Experience with FSI using ANSYS software.
* Experience with CFD modeling in OpenFOAM.
* Experience in flow metering, flow assurance, custody transfer, or allocation.
* Experience working on industrial R&D projects.
* Conference presentations, publications, or patents.
* Experience simulating ultrasonic wave propagation or gas combustion.
