Job Summary

Due to the promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Women's and Children's Division at Wirral Women & Children's Hospital for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join our forward-thinking, dynamic, patient-focused, supportive, and dedicated team.

The Quality & Safety Lead within the W&C Division is a key and pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of a safe and effective service.

You must demonstrate a good level of enquiry, excellent communication, and exceptional organisational skills. Current midwifery registration with the NMC, experience in Quality and Safety including patient safety, risk management, and patient experience, along with effective time management and workload prioritisation skills, are essential.


Main Duties

You will lead governance and risk management of maternity services, developing, embedding, and promoting robust governance processes and a safety culture. You should be an experienced midwife with a comprehensive understanding of governance and risk management. Ability to present reports verbally and in writing to diverse audiences, and to collaborate with professionals within and outside the organisation, is crucial. Strong communication skills, enthusiasm, innovation, and engagement ability are required.

You will work closely with the Director of Midwifery & Nursing, operational, and corporate management teams, including staff at all levels, to achieve safe, high-quality, effective care for service users.

Job Responsibilities

Refer to the attached Job description for detailed responsibilities. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check, paid for by the Trust, with deductions over three months. Applicants must join the DBS update service at their own cost (£13/year), with details provided upon appointment.

Qualifications (Essential)

* Registered Midwife on NMC Register
* Relevant degree, working towards master's level
* Teaching and assessing qualification
* Leadership experience post-registration
* Clinical experience in relevant area
* Ongoing professional development

* Specialist qualification in risk and governance
* Management qualification
