The role: Fabric Technician
The purpose of our Engineering Technician (Fabric) is to support the Supervisor by providing reactive and pre-planned maintenance services to building fabric and specific engineering services at various sites, following laid down procedures and safe working practices.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Delivering a high-quality physical workplace experience across multiple customer locations.
2. Maintaining high standards of HSE, controlling costs, driving service improvements, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
3. Building and maintaining effective relationships within the customer organization.
4. Ensuring compliance with all processes, procedures, statutory requirements, engineering standards, and safety systems.
5. Providing planned and reactive maintenance, including general building fabric and plumbing tasks, as outlined in the fabric competency matrix.
6. Supporting projects and uplift/refit initiatives with the Projects & Construction team.
7. Completing risk assessments and documentation prior to work.
8. Reporting risks, defects, and losses to management.
9. Maintaining Site Activity Log Books accurately and promptly.
10. Participating in an Emergency Call Out Service as part of the Out of Hours Rota.
11. Supporting the development of colleagues, including technicians and apprentices.
12. Undertaking the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) role and supporting other APs and CPs.
13. Understanding and following environmental responsibilities in line with CBRE policies.
Person Specification:
* Proven competence in building fabric tasks such as plastering, joinery, glazing, plumbing, and decorating.
* Ability to manage small teams on fabric projects.
* Full knowledge of relevant HSE requirements and their application.
* Attention to detail, quality, and a sense of urgency.
* Ability to challenge established practices constructively.
* Experience in a building trade or fabric role.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards, including manual handling, legionella, PASMA, IPAF, asbestos awareness, and roof work.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a building trade (e.g., NVQ, BTEC, apprenticeship).
* Full UK driving licence.
