Overview
We are looking for a bank Ophthalmic Nurse/ODP with FFA/ICG experience to join our Lincolnshire site. As a bank role the hours will be variable.
Our Ophthalmic Nurses/ODPs ensure a safe and efficient service, supporting outpatients through their clinical and theatre journeys.
You’ll independently manage the cannulation process during FFA/ICG clinics, explaining the procedure and after effects, administering the dye, and ensuring patient safety by monitoring for adverse reactions.
Our services are busy, so you’ll thrive working in an efficient and fast paced environment.
You can also be supporting the consultant in outpatient clinics, undertaking diagnostic testing as required. You’ll be maintaining accurate patient records and in all you do you’ll ensure the highest standards are met in terms of patient safety, confidentiality, clinical compliance and hygiene levels.
What skills and experience do I need?
You need to be a fully qualified Registered Nurse or ODP and need a current registration with the NMC/HCPC.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of FFA/ ICG clinics along with skills conducting diagnostic assessments in Visual Acuity/ IOP checks and highly competent in cannulation practice.
Alongside the mandatory qualifications the following things will be advantageous:
* Previous hospital eye service or private eye clinic experience
* Knowledge of clinical practice and aware of current developments in Optometry
* Capable of working in a fast paced, high-volume clinical setting
* Experience in training and coaching of others
* The desire for and commitment to continuous professional development
* A competent user of computer systems and programmes
* An excellent grasp of the English language both verbally and in written format
* A good team player – happy to jump in and support others when required
