Project Details (Responsibilities)
As a Junior Analytical Chemist you will:
* Operate and maintain a wide range of analytical equipment, both in the laboratory and during field expeditions.
* Collect and analyse marine biogeochemistry data while ensuring strict adherence to ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 health and safety standards.
* Maintain meticulous records of your work and contribute to collaborative, high‑impact research projects.
* Participate in land‑based and ship‑based research campaigns, including the operation of stable isotope mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs, and nutrient autoanalyzers.
* Undergo comprehensive training in sea survival and laboratory safety to meet the role’s demands.
Candidate Profile
* Practical experience operating laboratory instrumentation and following quality control protocols.
* Solid understanding of marine chemistry and familiarity with analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, and nutrient analysis.
* Willingness and ability to undertake fieldwork, including extended periods at sea and completion of sea survival training.
* Awareness of ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 health and safety standards, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
* Strong organisational skills, reliability, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in shared laboratory settings.
