Product Manager (NPD)
Salary: Competitive
Position: Permanent, Full-time, Hybrid.
Location: Tamworth (Minimum 2 days a week in-office; flexibility for occasional UK/Overseas travel)
Role Purpose:
Join our innovative team as a Product Manager, where you will work closely with the Product Strategy Team and Engineering teams to deliver new products aligned with our group product hierarchy and New Product Development (NPD) roadmap. You will play a vital role in ensuring that action plans and cross-functional teams are established to successfully launch NPD projects, while highlighting and mitigating risks. You will also be responsible for managing Stage Gate decks for your projects.
Key Responsibilities:
NPD Management:
* Lead the NPD project delivery as a key stakeholder in NPD teams.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to ensure projects align with project plans.
* Determine RRP, Product Specifications, Forecast, Packaging, and manage products throughout their development stages.
* Define accreditation requirements, including WRAS, TMV2, and TMV3.
Stage Gate Process:
* Ensure adherence to the Stage Gate plan within your category.
* Deliver accurate Stage Gate decks, collaborating with Product Strategy.
* Build strong relationships across Finance, Procurement, Design Engineering, Validation, Tech Data, and Supplier Quality Assurance teams to deliver products in line with the NPD story.
* Assess sales opportunities with the Sales team for NPD projects, validated with Financial Business Partners, while following the SG process.
Product Ownership:
* Ensure a competitive product offering based on design, price point, features, and benefits for the Bristan Group portfolio.
* Support channel teams on partner opportunities.
* Demonstrate strong product knowledge for the designated category, keeping abreast of industry trends and customer requirements.
* Produce accurate and effective product specifications and maintain a clear understanding of the product hierarchy, analysing how it measures against competitors
* Collaborate with the Product Strategy team to contribute to the NPD roadmap and identify architectural gaps, proposing innovative solutions.
Category Management:
* Exhibit a solid understanding of category performance, recognising how your NPD projects will contribute to overall success.
* Manage day-to-day product data and build product specifications in conjunction with design engineering.
* Oversee product information for both new and existing products, manage discontinuations, and handle product changes.
* Address product queries and evaluate existing products, while actively working with Procurement and Engineering to source new products and identify VAVE opportunities on existing lines.
* Support Marketing teams with product information.
* Collaborate with Product Marketing on developing feature & benefits content.
Voice of the Customer (VOC):
* Lead VOC initiatives for NPD projects.
Channel Support:
* Embody a customer-focused mindset to ensure that channel requirements are met within specified timelines.
* Provide timely support to channel teams on all partner initiatives and opportunities for existing and new product developments.
* Be responsible for all product activities that enhance the channels' ability to achieve financial targets.
Analysis:
* Work with Insights lead, Channel, Customer Experience and finance to ensure all decision making and proposals are based on data and insights
Team Leader:
* Align the Assistant Product Manager to deliver the Product Roadmap and manage the categories within the portfolio.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in product management, preferably within the NPD realm
* Strong project management skills with a collaborative approach.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Ability to analyse market trends and assess competitive positioning.
