Join to apply for the Principal / Associate Environmental (EIA) Consultant role at WSP. We are looking for a Principal level environmental professional to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the UK, based from any of WSP’s UK offices. Our portfolio spans onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, rail, and more. We seek people with a proactive mindset, a strong grounding in environmental design, assessment and management, and the ability to contribute across the project lifecycle.
As one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies, WSP works on high-profile projects from small developments to major national infrastructure. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team leads environmental inputs through feasibility, consent, design, construction and handover, collaborating with environmental specialists and engineers to deliver proposals that enhance environment and communities.
A typical week could include leading environmental elements of engineering projects across sectors such as rail, highways, energy and commercial/residential, from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction and handover/maintenance. You will be responsible for bidding, project team management, delivery, and financial management.
Responsibilities
* Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
* Collaborating with environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
* Leading large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial and health and safety performance.
* Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities for resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
* Developing new client relationships and marketing services, including presenting at conferences for WSP.
* Securing new work through proposals, bids, frameworks and business development activities.
* Leading and contributing to innovative techniques to shape how we work (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA).
* Driving performance improvement and career development across the team.
* Promoting team culture and acting as a go-to person within the wider team.
* Supporting health, safety and wellbeing culture and promoting an inclusive workplace.
* Contributing toward the WSP business strategy with self-motivated goal setting.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar.
* Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of IEMA, or equivalent professional body qualification.
* Excellent experience of EIA and EIA processes with ability to work with limited supervision within multidisciplinary teams.
* Sound knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and attention to detail.
* Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects (rail, highways, energy, commercial/residential).
* Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial, risk, forecasting and quality assurance.
