Junior Ethical Trade Advisor JD Group is committed to ensuring that all products made under “private label” are manufactured ethically and that we aim to implement sustainability into every aspect of our private label businesses across the Group. Working within the JD private label team at the head office in Bury, you will be part of a busy design and development office and interact with external departments and businesses across the Group. JD private labels are an integral part of the JD retail offering, and these labels are designed, developed and manufactured in house and our teams on these labels are targeted with the growth of sustainability throughout the business.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the coordination of supplier audits and follow‑up actions
* Maintaining and updating ethical trade data and records
* Supporting the preparation of reports, presentations, and internal updates
* Monitoring industry developments and researching human rights risks
* Helping to organise supplier training sessions and awareness campaigns
* Collaborating with internal teams (e.g. Buying, Sourcing, ESG) to support ethical trade initiatives
Desired Skills & Qualities
* A strong interest in ethical trade, sustainability, or human rights
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
* A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn (Beneficial but not essential)
* A degree or coursework in Ethics/Sustainability, International Development, Business, or a related field
* Internship or volunteer experience in CSR, ESG, or supply chain
* Familiarity with audit processes or ethical sourcing standards (e.g. SMETA, ETI Base Code)
