Job Overview
Adam Bernard Solicitors is seeking an experienced and motivated Family Solicitor to join our growing team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of private and Legal Aid family matters, delivering high-quality legal advice and representation to clients in often sensitive and complex situations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of family law matters from instruction to completion
* Handle cases including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, domestic abuse, injunctions, and care proceedings
* Conduct Legal Aid work where applicable, ensuring full compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements
* Represent clients in court hearings and liaise with counsel where necessary
* Draft legal documents including applications, witness statements, and court bundles
* Provide clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice to clients
* Maintain accurate file management and billing records
* Meet departmental billing and performance targets
* Contribute to the growth and development of the family department
* Experience in handling care proceedings and representing clients at PLO (Public Law Outline) meetings, including advising on pre-proceedings and safeguarding matters.
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a valid practising certificate
* Minimum 3 years PQE in family law
* Experience handling Legal Aid matters (preferred/essential depending on role)
* Strong knowledge of family law procedures and court processes
* Excellent advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
* Strong client care and communication skills
Desirable
* Law Society Family Law Accreditation or Children Panel membership
* Experience in advocacy and representing clients at hearings
* Experience in care proceedings and PLO matters
Performance Expectations
* Achieve billing targets equivalent to 3.5 times annual salary
* Maintain compliance with Legal Aid and regulatory standards
* Deliver high standards of client care
* Contribute to business development and client growth
