Senior Resource Manager – London

The Opportunity
As Senior Resource Manager, you will drive a structured, equitable approach to work allocation—improving utilisation, balancing workloads across teams and locations, and supporting the performance and wellbeing of fee earners.
You’ll be the key link between Partners, fee earners and business services teams, helping create a transparent, insight‑led resource model.
What You’ll Do
* Lead work allocation across EPC sub‑teams, ensuring fair, skills‑based distribution
* Build trusted relationships with Partners to understand business priorities and capacity needs
* Provide weekly utilisation and capacity reporting, escalating concerns in real time
* Develop strong relationships with fee earners, mapping skills, tracking availability and supporting career aspirations
* Monitor capacity forecasts and support fee earners in accurate weekly updates
* Identify skills gaps, training needs and wellbeing issues proactively
* Support consistent national working and improved cross‑team collaboration
* Work with other Resource Managers to shape best‑practice global allocation processes
* Partner with HR, Finance, PMO, L&D and Practice Management on people issues and initiatives
* Support internal secondments and recruitment
* Produce weekly/monthly MI, highlight trends and suggest process improvements
* Track holidays and proactively recommend reallocation before capacity issues arise
* Contribute to the rollout and optimisation of a new resource management system
What You’ll Bring
* Experience in resource management or work allocation within legal or professional services
* Legal background or understanding of legal practice highly advantageous
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
* Strong commercial awareness
* Confident working with Partners and senior decision‑makers
* Skilled in Excel and experienced with resource management tools (or quick to learn)
* Proactive, resilient, and comfortable navigating change
* Strong judgement, discretion and a people‑focused mindset
