Job Description:
Raigmore Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinically focused and motivated pharmacist to join the clinical pharmacy team at Raigmore Hospital. This post will be based within the Surgical, Women & Children team. This includes rotations in general surgery & surgical admissions, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, critical care, anaesthetics, maternity, paediatrics & neonates. There will also be opportunities to gain clinical experience in other areas such as microbiology, renal and medical high dependency unit. The range of specialties offers a diverse experience, whilst gaining specialist knowledge and skills. You will work across different sub-specialties, with rotations tailored to your training and development needs as well as service demands. Supervision, training, and support will be available from lead pharmacists and other team members; no prior experience in these areas is required.
The successful candidate will assist with training and development of pharmacy students, trainees, junior pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. Clinical pharmacy technicians are embedded within the team, and opportunities for pharmacy support workers to contribute are also available. The team is involved in education and training of the wider MDT, including medical students and staff.
Development opportunities include quality improvement projects, audits, and participation in governance groups such as sub-groups of the Area Drug and Therapeutics Committee. There are also opportunities to participate in peri-operative clinics and lead initiatives in areas like sustainability, acute pain, and theatres.
Candidates should be good communicators, enthusiastic, self-motivated, team players, curious, eager to learn, and capable of problem-solving and prioritization. You should be a registered pharmacist with a Master's Degree in Pharmacy and relevant post-registration experience. Post-graduate qualifications such as a Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and Independent Prescribing are desirable but can be facilitated within the role. The department prioritizes education and supports pharmacists in achieving RPS Core Advanced credentialing.
We welcome applications from pharmacists across all sectors, as this role offers opportunities to develop transferable skills. Join our friendly and supportive pharmacy team as we transform patient care. We have implemented HEPMA across hospital sites, installed robotics in dispensary and distribution services to improve safety and efficiency.
Inverness offers a balanced city-living environment with access to the Highlands' natural beauty, supporting a healthy work-life balance. Raigmore Hospital provides a welcoming, collaborative environment, where you will become part of the wider hospital team.
The role requires working in emergency on-call, weekend, and public holiday rotas.
