This substantive Consultant post will work with a team of three consultants supporting the service in nephrology, general medicine, the dialysis unit and providing long‑term transplant follow‑ups. A passion for providing high‑quality, patient‑centred care across both inpatient and outpatient settings is essential.
There is a long‑term plan for reconfiguration of the Renal Services to a hub and spoke model. The Inpatient hub will be situated at the Basildon site, with Nephrologists in the region rotating through the inpatient service. However, at this current time this role is based at Southend Hospital.

This is a substantive full‑time consultant post in Nephrology. If appointed, you will join a team of 3 other nephrologists in the kidney service delivered at all three hospital sites within the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Work on a 1 in 4 rota.
* Be responsible for weekly clinics and for managing a cohort of haemodialysis patients, with an opportunity to develop regional specialist clinics that may occur at all three sites.
* Contribute regularly to procedure supervision and training of resident doctors and participate in the rota with other consultant nephrologists to cover inpatient and on‑call commitments.
* Contribute to the education of trainees, quality improvement, research activities, and clinical governance of the service.
* Rotate through inpatient renal and general medicine services.
* Deliver secondary care–based kidney disease management, including dialysis care (peritoneal dialysis care in particular) and out‑patient clinics.
