Consultant in Diagnostic Neuroradiology with Interest in Head and Neck
Grade Consultant, Contract, Permanent. Full time – 10 sessions per week. Job ref MS-CON-7853230-S5.
Location: West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
Salary: £113,565 – £150,569 per annum (Yearly). Closing date: 03/06/2026 23:59.
The post holder’s duties will be primarily at the West Wing and John Radcliffe Hospital but may require working across the Trust’s four hospitals, with some direct clinical care sessions anticipated at Churchill Hospital.

Provide general adult diagnostic neuroradiology and head and neck imaging, including neck diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound‑guided neck biopsies. Deliver effective care and maintain professional excellence.

Undertake all aspects of adult diagnostic neuroradiology and head and neck imaging, including supportive diagnostics, reporting, and case presentation. Contribute to research, development, and teaching, and potentially develop further areas of special interest.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Medical Degree
* FRCR or equivalent
* Full registration with GMC
* CCT in Radiology; or Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Radiology; or within six months of achieving CCT at time of interview
* Completed general training in radiology and in neuroradiology to specialist level or equivalent
* Completed training in recognised neuroradiology training post +/- evidence of subspecialty training in head and neck imaging
* Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, MS
* Ultrasound and ultrasound‑guided fine‑needle aspiration/biopsy in head and neck imaging
Experience
* Ability to offer expert neuroradiology opinion
* Independent reporting of all aspects of craniospinal imaging
* Participation in diagnostic neuroradiology on call
* Evidence of decision making at consultant level and managing complex clinical problems
* Evidence of head and neck imaging, particularly ultrasound and ultrasound‑guided aspiration and fine‑needle biopsy
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent leadership skills. Evidence of ability to lead a clinical team at consultant level in a teaching hospital
* Effective administrative and time‑management skills
* Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork
