Job overview Purpose of volunteering role : The volunteering role is designed to provide support to the Catering Team at Bushey Fields Hospital. This is a voluntary role which is unpaid. Black Country Healthcare is a major provider of NHS mental health services for more than a million people across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton: Adult and older adult mental health services Specialist learning disabilities services Mental health services for children and young people Community healthcare for children, young people and families in Dudley We’re proud to be rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, and that many of our staff have won awards for their work. Advert Examples of how you can help us : This is a volunteer role, so unpaid. Volunteer will be asked to support with the below tasks, with support/supervision from the team: Maintaining canteen cleanliness: keeping tables, counters, and service areas tidy and hygienic throughout service. Customer service: providing friendly assistance, explaining menu options, and giving accurate information about allergens and dietary requirements. Supporting with tills: Will learn how to process customer transactions and ensuring accurate handling of payments. Stock support : help to organize, rotate, and replenish stock as needed. Food preparation: Volunteers will complete a Level 1 Food Safety course and will also have the opportunity to undertake a Level 2 qualification. Once trained, they can support the team with basic food preparation tasks carried out in accordance with required safety and hygiene standards. Must be able to travel to Bushey Fields Hospital (travel expenses will be reimbursed) Disclaimer: This opportunity is subject to the successful completion of employment checks. However, by remaining in the role for a reasonable period, both you and the organization will gain the greatest benefit from the experience. Volunteer's will have the opportunity to learn about catering within a healthcare setting, developing practical skills and knowledge that can support with future personal goals, j ob prospects or further training. Detailed job description and main responsibilities We are looking for volunteers who have these qualities: Reliability - desirable that volunteers can support regularly, to provide stability for the team and themselves. Live in the Black Country, within a reasonable travel distance to site. Volunteers must be over 18 Personable, friendly and welcoming - able to communicate well with patients and staff and build rapport. Good teamwork skills - contributes to a supportive team culture. Good hygiene standards - follow required practices such as avoiding jewellery, long or false nails, and nail varnish. Some awareness of mental health - sensitive to the needs of individuals and able to interact with empathy and understanding. Able to follow confidentiality policy and professional boundaries to keep themselves and patients safe.
