Senior Product Engineer, Health & Human Performance

The Health & Human Performance group at Triton practices a human-centered approach to design and deliver end-user driven solutions to our customers. Through our work developing products that help people perform challenging jobs in extreme environments, we are focused on physiological monitoring, advanced wearables, trauma and field care medical devices, and novel human-machine interfaces including haptics.
Position Summary
In this role you will be responsible for guiding the development of innovative solutions for our customers through the entire human-centered design process, from concept to commercialization. You will offer vision and guidance to the multidisciplinary team as they perform research, build prototypes, and deploy mature products.
Responsibilities
* Identify meaningful user requirements through interactions with the customer
* Conceptualize and investigate user-focused solutions to meet customer requirements
* Develop, procure, and fabricate functional models or prototypes to obtain user feedback and iterate designs
* Drive the design process through technical decision points
* Provide management and technical leadership of 2-4 concurrent projects
* Presentation of results to customers (written and oral)
* Direction and mentorship of junior staff
* Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships
* Identification, coordination and management of vendors and suppliers as we transition products from prototype stage to manufacture
You will be expected to work with colleagues on small teams, both within the Human Systems group and with other groups across Triton, on a diverse array of projects. You will communicate clearly and effectively with customers, partners, and vendors.
Minimum Requirements
* BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering field; Advanced degree is desired
* 7-12 years of experience working in human-centered product design or related fields
* Experience managing technical teams, typically 2-3 people, including mechanical, electrical and software staff
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to maintain multiple concurrent projects, providing deliverables on schedule
* Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods; Design for manufacture experience is desired
* Familiarity with solid modeling, SolidWorks
* Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals including numerical analysis and modeling
* Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies
* Experience with SBIR programs is desired
