A Rewarding Role With Real Impact - Relief Support Worker St Albans
Are you looking for real job satisfaction? Do you have the right qualities to support children and young people with learning disabilities? This role offers far more than just a job. No two days are the same, and every day brings new experiences and opportunities to make a real difference.
You will be joining us as a Relief (Bank) Support Worker in St Albans, supporting young people who enjoy staying active, trying new things, and visiting new places. You must be a driver with a UK manual licence. One day you might be visiting the seaside, and the next you could be enjoying a quiet moment reading a book together.
The young people you will support all have their own personalities, interests, and favourite activities. These include:
* Alex, who enjoys visiting the farm, going to the library, reading stories with a cup of tea, and spending time in the sensory room.
* Arnold, who loves watching his favourite soaps, clothes shopping, and listening to pop music.
* Dave, who thrives on messy play, exploring the garden, playing in the mud, enjoying tickles in the lounge, interacting with staff, and visiting the park.
* Jack, who enjoys doing puzzles, playing games on his iPad, water play, watching Disney films, and has even enjoyed a trip to the theatre.
Names have been changed for privacy.
If this sounds like a great day at work, we would love you to join us on the journey to support each young person in a way that makes sense to them and help them create lasting memories.
The Relief (Bank) role supports the permanent rota team by covering shifts that become available due to annual leave, sickness, training, or unforeseen circumstances. Rotas are usually planned one month in advance, and there is no obligation to accept shifts. Hours are non-specific, and the service will always aim to balance the needs of the service with your work-life balance. If you are unable to work any shifts for a period of three months, you will automatically be removed from the Relief register. This role can be a great way to gain experience, earn additional income, and explore whether this is the right career path for you.
Important Commitment and Training Requirements
This role is incredibly rewarding, but it does require a clear and reliable commitment to ensure consistency and stability for our students. To support you in the role and ensure the highest standard of care, all successful applicants must complete mandatory training before undertaking shifts independently. This training is essential to help you feel confident, safe, and fully prepared.
The key commitments for this role are outlined below:
* Mandatory training must be completed before you can work independently.
* The training programme requires availability for at least 3 days per week during your first six weeks of joining.
* Training dates will be provided well in advance to allow you to plan accordingly.
We kindly ask that applicants apply only if they can fully commit to both the training requirements and the ongoing minimum shift commitment, as this consistency is vital for our students’ wellbeing.
"Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding."
