How you'll make a difference


As a Vocational Support Worker, you will support people with mental health problems to recover aspects of their life through identifying and engaging in meaningful occupation opportunities.

What you will be doing
* It will be your responsibility to facilitate and support purposeful vocational opportunities for mental health adults of working age.
* Based on an assessment of service user needs, you will work together to identify suitable voluntary and vocational opportunities.
* It will be key for you to assess the vocational needs of individual referred to the team.
* By participating in the development, delivery and review of individual vocational plans, you will ensure all proper documentation, policies and procedures are accurately recorded and implemented.
* You will liaise with service users, key workers, statutory and voluntary agencies to enable connections and facilitate community options for meaningful occupations.
What we need from you
* We require you to hold a recognised health, education, social services or employment related qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance, Care or Promoting Independence.
* It is essential that you have strong interpersonal skills to be able to work alongside service users, other professionals and service providers in a way that promotes independence and personal choice.
* You will be able to gather information from a variety of sources and follow assessment processes, producing clear assessment plans in a timely and accurate manner.
* You must have the ability to be flexible and versatile, keeping up to date with and responding to changes as the service develops, including furthering your professional development.
* Although not essential, you may have some experience in a relevant area of statutory or voluntary sector work in the health or social care field.
What you need to know
* Your salary is pro-rata to hours worked.
* This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Kingswood, Bristol and from home.
* Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
* You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
* Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy.
* You can claim back mileage expenses.

Interviews will be held week commencing 23rd March 2026.
