Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel in Edinburgh, we also have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities of any hotel in Edinburgh with a capacity of up to 500 along with our One Square Restaurant and bar and the award winning ONE SPA. Situated on Lothian Road, opposite the Usher Hall with castle views the hotel is popular with locals as well as visitors to the city. The hotel has 269 bedrooms and employs 300+ associates.
Roles and responsibilities
You would gain exposure to all aspects of the HR function, including but not limited to;
Creating and maintaining filing systems
1. Office correspondence & employee communications
2. The recruitment process from advertising through screening and interviewing
3. Onboarding including making contracts
4. Note taking in investigation and disciplinary meetings
5. Employee recognition programmes

The successful candidate will be proactive and will be an excellent communicator (verbal and written) as well as:
6. Great Customer Service Skills - Must enjoy interaction, be able to anticipate associate needs and maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
7. Build key relationships with all hotel associates to ensure expectations are met/exceeded at all times.
8. Must be a Team Player – Demonstrate experience of building positive working relationships and promoting team spirit.
9. Essential Computer Skills - Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is essential and the ability to manage an inbox and busy to do list.
Length of placement, expected weekly hours and start & end date
Ideally the placement should start in February 2026
25 hours per week over set days (to be discussed at interview but there is flexibility, needs to be within Monday to Friday). Office hours. 24 weeks in length.
