Professional Duties of a Teacher

1. Exercise of general professional duties
A teacher, other than a principal, shall carry out professional duties as required, under the reasonable direction of the principal or, if employed by a board without a specific school assignment, under the board and principal's direction of any school where they work.
1. Exercise of particular duties
Teachers shall perform duties reasonably assigned by the principal or the board, including teaching, assessment, guidance, and participation in school meetings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning
* Planning and preparing courses and lessons.
* Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
* Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' development and progress.
1. General
* Promoting pupils' progress and well-being.
* Providing advice on educational and social matters and future careers.
* Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs.
* Communicating with parents and external bodies.
* Participating in meetings related to curriculum, administration, or pastoral care.
1. Assessment/Reporting
Contributing to assessments, reports, and references for pupils, respecting confidentiality.
1. Staff Development
* Participating in staff development and performance reviews.
* Reviewing and developing teaching methods and materials.
* Advising on course development and assessment strategies.
1. Discipline/Health and Safety
* Maintaining discipline and safeguarding health and safety.
* Participating in school meetings on curriculum and organization.
1. Public Examinations
Preparing pupils for and assessing them during public examinations, including supervision and recording.
1. Management Activities and Administration
* Contributing to staff recruitment, development, and management of teaching activities.
* Participating in administrative tasks, including supervision and attendance registration.
1. Working Hours
Full-time teachers work 195 days per year, with specific hours and break requirements as specified, including duties outside classroom teaching and travel time.
1. Staff Cover
Providing cover for absent teachers within specified conditions based on school size and policies.

Section 1 - Essential Criteria
* Qualifications: Recognized teaching qualification, degree in French (minimum 2:2) or equivalent, registered with GTCNI.
* Experience: At least 1 year of teaching Key Stage French, effective use of teaching approaches, digital media experience.
Section 2 - Additional Essential Criteria
* Knowledge of French specifications, NI Curriculum, teaching strategies, assessment methods.
* Skills: Inspiring teaching, collaboration, classroom management.
* Personal Qualities: Enthusiastic, organized, dedicated, team-oriented.
* Values: Reflecting school ethos and values.
Section 3 - Desirable Criteria
* Experience teaching GCSE French for at least 1 year.
