An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Data Centre Engineer to support one of our client's data centres based in Southall, Middlesex. We are looking for an experienced IT professional with strong know-how in Data Centre IT Operation, IT installation and planning, fibre-copper and structured cabling. This is a permanent full-time position working 37.5-hours a week, Monday - Friday, between the hours of 07:00 - 18:00 and also working as part of the shared on call rota to provide the required 24/7 on-site support. As a Data Centre Engineer you will: Plan, coordinate and implement HW installation and network cabling requests in collaboration with platform and network teams Mange DC white space and report on power-, rack space- and port utilisation Manage the asset register for all equipment installed in the Data Hall Proactively advise requirements for additional network or storage capability and liaise with the associated Support Teams Install and configure hardware in the Data Hall Lead troubleshooting activities onsite and collaborate with the remote Support Teams to resolve the issue Provide local Smart Hands assistance to Support/Platform Teams Escort and supervise maintenance services provided by third party vendors Keep documentation and reporting up to date Managing deliveries to LDC Schedule 3rd party break-fix activities and manage DC Access Requests What we're looking for: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Proactive individual with strong organisational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel Ability to work precisely and quality oriented Ability and willingness to coach and motivate team members Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting workloads in a fast-paced environment Flexibility and willingness to cope with unexpected problems and situations Capacity to manage customer expectations and interactions effectively Good understanding of server HW (console, devices) Strong understanding of Networking concepts, topologies, protocols, cabling requirements Strong problem solving, decision-making skills A solid understanding of data centre environments, infrastructure and SOPs Desirable skills: Professional certification in a relative field Proven work history in an IT environment Experience of IT operations in a data centre or similar environment This is an excellent opportunity to join us and as an employee you will gain access to a large library of training courses and accreditations to help further your skills and development.
