Offer description

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate has an opportunity for a fixed term/secondment for a Senior Clinical Pharmacist in ADHD.

This role offers a unique chance to manage a caseload of patients (children, adolescents, and adults) with ADHD, ideally working as an independent prescriber, providing support and advice to patients, carers, and families. You will lead the development of the pharmacy service and be a senior leader within the pharmacy team. In shaping pharmaceutical care across ADHD services, you will collaborate closely with the ADHD multidisciplinary team and provide specialist pharmacy advice to ensure the safe, appropriate, and effective use of medicines in line with national guidance. You will also work with various specialist teams, including primary care and community pharmacies, to deliver patient-centered and seamless care.

An independent prescribing qualification is essential. A relevant postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience is desirable. You will be supported by lead pharmacists and participate in peer-support networks for independent prescribers and pharmacists with a specialist interest.

The position is based at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, with occasional travel across Fife, as the service covers ADHD across the region.

As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide clinical leadership to Foundation and specialist mental health pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Service is committed to integrated care for Fife’s population of approximately 380,000, delivered by a team of around 300 staff across various healthcare settings. We value partnership working and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including community pharmacies, to provide high-quality care.

Our leadership team holds monthly staff briefings to update, celebrate achievements, and gather ideas. Fife offers excellent transport links, just 30 minutes to 1 hour from major cities.

For an informal discussion, contact John Brown, Head of Pharmacy - Clinical Services Lead, or Hazel Close, Deputy Director of Pharmacy and Medicines, via MS Teams at john.brown11@nhs.scot or hazel.close@nhs.scot.

Existing NHS employees should discuss this opportunity with their line manager. External applicants with NHS service must have a secondment agreement in place.

NHS Fife is committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion. We welcome applications from all sections of society and support flexible working, family-friendly policies, and reasonable adjustments for candidates with disabilities or long-term conditions.
