This role touches on all aspects of the Council’s activity. You’ll lead a modern, proactive Audit Service which acts as a true strategic partner to colleagues, adds value and supports service improvement, while always ensuring robust risk management and sound governance. Leading on the development and delivery of the Council’s annual audit plan, you’ll report regularly to the Audit Committee, ensuring transparency about progress against the plan and highlighting any issues or risks. As well as leading on the management of the Council’s insurance arrangements, you will also oversee the upkeep of the Strategic Risk Register.
It's likely that you are already working in a local authority or wider public sector setting, where you have developed an excellent professional understanding of the audit function. We expect that you will also hold a relevant professional qualification, and will have a track record of fulfilling all relevant professional standards and regulations.
