The CNC Programmer Role
An established, high-precision manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Offline 5-Axis CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to support the production of complex, tight-tolerance components in a quality-driven environment.
This is a hands-on role, combining offline CNC programming with machine setup and operation. Youll play a key part in process development, programme validation, fixturing, and continuous improvement, working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Offline programming, setting and operation of 4-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines
* Validate and optimise CNC programs offline prior to shop floor release
* Create and maintain technical documentation including setup sheets, SOPs and LWIs
* Support manufacturability and quoting reviews for new components
* Set and run development work and production batches
* Use probing, calibration routines and datum/workplane alignment effectively
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience programming, setting and operating 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machines
* Strong understanding of machining complex components to tight tolerances
* Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T
* Experience with probing cycles, tool setting and work offset control
* Solid grounding in tooling, tool life management and process control
Desirable Experience
* Experience with Edgecam (preferred)
* Exposure to Vericut
* Heidenhain and/or Fanuc CNC controls
