Lymphoma Clinical Nurse Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity in our Cancer Business Unit within our Haematology department as a Clinical Nurse Specialist supporting our Lymphoma patient pathway.
You will be joining an established team of dynamic CNSs. You will be part of a team that delivers specialist nursing whilst maintaining and developing a quality service. You will act as the patient's advocate, maintaining privacy and dignity, and provide advice and support to junior staff and learners in all aspects of the delivery of high quality care. This role will also provide support, advice, and education to patients and significant others in the management of their care.
Main duties of the job
Substantial nursing experience in Haematology or oncology nursing at band 6/7 is preferable. Practical skills such as non‑medical prescribing, bone marrow biopsy, and blood transfusion prescribing would be preferred. You will need to be flexible, reliable, and patient‑focused. You will work closely with the consultant team in delivering patient‑centred care. There might be a requirement to work between both Derby and Burton sites; however, these posts are predominantly RDH (Royal Derby Hospital) based.

Person Specification
Education, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements
* Current NMC registration
* Degree in Nursing and specialised courses according to specialty
* Evidence of degree / working towards higher degree or equivalent experience
* Haematology or Cancer Specialty Course
* Non Medical Prescribing
* Bone Marrow Biopsy Clinical Skill
Experience & Knowledge
* Demonstrable experience at a Band 6 level within NHS
* Significant demonstrable and recent experience of working within Haematology Services
* Demonstrable evidence of involvement in supporting Medical Team with complex patients
* Demonstrable evidence of independent working in managing Clinics and/or evidence of transferrable skills onto a Band 7 CNS post
* Experience in teaching or supporting learners
* Specific knowledge of the clinical area/speciality

* To be able to demonstrate the ability to make decisions
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to assess associated risks and to take appropriate action
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to manage the clinical workload, prioritising and re‑prioritising. Manage safe/ safer staffing
* Work across division during unit cover and deputising for matron
