Are you a current post-registration hospital Pharmacist or Clinical Pharmacist working in another area of practice? Are you looking for experience in a specialist clinical area to develop your skills? If so University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Pharmacy Department has a 6 month secondment to join our existing pool of Specialist Rotational Pharmacists, who rotate through:
1. Cardiac Services in the Bristol Heart Institute (90%) [BHI] and the Outpatient Anticoagulation Dosing Service (10%) [BRI]
2. Oncology and haematology in the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre [BHOC]
3. Ophthalmology in the Bristol Eye Hospital [BEH]
4. Antimicrobial Stewardship (50%) Clinical commissioning and high cost drugs (50% [BRI]
5. Clinical Pharmacy (50%) and Clinical Informatics (50%) [BRI]
6. Critical Care [BRI]
Our UHBW Bristol site is comprised of 7 hospitals in Bristol city centre, providing local and regional acute services for South Bristol, South West England and parts of South Wales. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate post-registration experience in clinical practice with development against the RPS Foundation Pharmacy Framework, will be GPhC registered and be able to demonstrate their experience in clinical practice through application and interview showcasing their readiness to move into a more specialist role.
The UHBW Specialist Clinical Pharmacist Development Pathway provides clinical rotations, supervision and projects to equip pharmacists to progress in line with the RPS Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum to progress to the next level in their career.
Our program includes:
7. 8-month rotations in Bristol through ophthalmology, cardiac services, haematology and oncology, critical care, clinical informatics, antimicrobial stewardship, and clinical commissioning
8. A commitment to incorporate additional exciting opportunities into each rotation as they arise
9. Developmental support against the RPS Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum through clinical diploma, independent prescribing and ePortfolio as appropriate for the learner
10. A requirement to work mainly across the Bristol site, and to participate in the departmental late, weekend, bank-holiday and non-residential on-call service rotas. Weekend shifts will be managed with a commensurate weekday off-duty day.
