Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded individual looking to start a career in business development and technical sales. You will spend the first 3 months gaining hands-on experience with industrial machinery, learning products inside out, before moving into a proactive sales and business development role. The position combines product knowledge, lead generation, and customer engagement, providing a strong foundation for a career in technical sales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Spend initial 3 months on the workshop/factory floor learning machinery, operations, and technical specifications.
2. Research and generate new leads through cold calling, targeting local SMEs, builders, landscapers, and plant hire companies.
3. Qualify leads and manage opportunities through the sales pipeline.
4. Conduct product demonstrations at customer sites when required.
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and distributors.
6. Understand customer needs and recommend suitable machinery solutions.
7. Support marketing and sales campaigns to promote products and services.
Person Specification
Essential:
8. Technically minded with an interest in machinery, manufacturing, or construction equipment.
9. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the UK.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Self-motivated and proactive, comfortable making cold calls and identifying new business opportunities.
12. Eager to develop a career in technical sales/business development.
Desirable:
13. Experience in construction, landscaping, recycling, or plant hire sectors.
14. Familiarity with CRM systems or sales software.
15. Hands-on experience with machinery or mechanical aptitude.
