The Role

Gilmore College is ideally seeking a motivated and organised Library Officer to lead the day-to-day operations of our newly refurbished library, a contemporary learning space designed to support student engagement and achievement.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the reopening of our brand-new, fully refurbished library, with the grand reopening scheduled for Term 2. The successful applicant will ideally be instrumental in re-establishing the library’s systems, resources and procedures, ensuring the space is fully operational and ready to support our school community. This role offers the rare opportunity to shape and set up a contemporary learning environment from the ground up.

In this role, you will supervise the daily operations of the library, ensuring high-quality reference, information and resource services are provided to students, staff and parents. You will administer library systems to maintain accurate records and ensure resources are processed, accessible and well maintained at all times.

The successful applicant will ideally:

1. Support students and staff in locating and selecting age-appropriate and curriculum-aligned resources.
2. Deliver library skills sessions and display the effective use of library equipment and technologies.
3. Coordinate libraries visit schedules and supervise small groups of students as required
4. Prepare and monitor the library budget, including purchasing resources and relevant licences.
5. Provide technical advice regarding library information systems.
6. Supervise and support library staff and/or volunteers, including rostering and performance management in line with Departmental policy.
7. Contribute to maintaining an organised, welcoming and contemporary learning environment.

The ideal candidate will display strong organisational and interpersonal skills, sound knowledge of library systems and processes, and the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Experience supporting information technology (IT) systems within a school environment would be highly regarded, and knowledge of the Oliver library management system is highly desirable.
