Our Finance Team is going through an exciting transformation period - automating processes, implementing cutting-edge tech systems, and developing better data and reporting capabilities. The Role
As Financial Accountant, you'll provide leadership and technical expertise across the finance function, reporting directly to the Head of Finance and managing a team of 3 Finance Assistants.
Your Key Areas of Impact:
Year-End Accounts & Statutory Audit
* Lead annual financial accounts and CASS audits
* Prepare annual financial statements
* Liaise with auditors and ensure reporting compliance
Financial Processes & Controls
* Review, document, and enhance financial processes to evidence robust controls and risk mitigation
* Ensure statutory returns are completed on time (HMRC, ONS surveys, grant claims)
* Maintain charity bank accounts and signatory protocols
Monthly Accounts & Management Information
* Take ownership of restricted funds management and development
Team Leadership
* Create a culture of personal development
* Lead with vulnerability and build a high-trust team
* Balance team workloads using LEAN and effective strategic methods
Data & Systems Development
* Lead development and integrity of the Financial System
* Oversee design and implementation of new financial reports and process automation
* Provide technical support on Chart of Accounts and reporting queries
About You
Essential:
* Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Experience preparing statutory accounts
* Excellent technical finance and accounting knowledge including leading audits
* Problem-solving, analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
Desirable:
* Line-management experience
* Charity accounting experience
* Experience reviewing controls & processes and installing/upgrading accounting systems
Christian Commitment:
You must be able to verbally assent to and practically demonstrate Christians Against Poverty’s Statement of Faith and Core Values.
You must be able to actively participate in prayer and worship, whether individual, small group or corporately, as an expression of your own personal faith and in line with CAP’s Statement of Faith.
